Message from the President

Heart O’ Dixie Region, Porsche Club of America

As we close out 2008 and begin a new year I would like to recap some of our club activities and describe planned activities for 2009.  Our most recent event, the Christmas Party at Porsche of Huntsville, was also cause to celebrate three years of dealer support to our Club.  Their support to the Tennessee Valley and our club has contributed to the growth we’ve enjoyed the past three years.  Thanks to Porsche of Huntsville for hosting the first half of our party with style, elegance, and delicious food.  The Heart O’ Dixie Porsche Club and the Century Automotive Group enjoy a healthy symbiotic relationship.  With 122 primary members and a total affiliated membership of 220, we’re continuing our growth and hopefully have a better club than at any time in our club history.

But a good Club is more than just numbers, it’s also activities.  The club officers feel that our mission is to provide Porsche-centered activities for each and every club member.  With that goal in mind we have planed a variety of events for this coming year.  We will continue our Pit Stop breakfast the first Saturday of each month.  This is an excellent opportunity to sit and chat with other members in a casual, informal setting while enjoying a good breakfast.  Every second Thursday of the month is our evening dinner meeting.  For fun driving events, we will have quarterly driving tours covering interesting roads throughout the southeast.  Our annual winter Tech Session this year will feature the installation of five gifts and services provided by Freddie Louis Auto Accessories, a new Club sponsor.  We will once again conduct our annual novice driver’s

education at the Talladega Grand Prix Raceway on May 2nd.  Also, our club actively instructs and participates in monthly driver’s education at Road Atlanta, Barber, and Memphis tracks.  We also support neighboring PCA Regions who sponsor weekend events such as the Chattanooga Winterfest in February, Knoxville Spring Thing in April, and north Georgia Rennfest in September.  Our spring tour this year will once again feature various back-roads and lunch at a regional diner.  Several of our Club Boxsters will again attend the Blue Ridge Boxster Summit this summer in Blowing Rock, Tennessee.

The highlight of 2009 will undoubtedly be the PCA national Parade in Keystone, CO, June 29th – July 4th.  This will be my 6th Parade and I continue to view it as the keystone of my Porsche year.  A new Parade convenience will be registration expanded to three days instead of one, March 3-5th

We have an exciting year planned for our Porsche enthusiasts and encourage you to attend as many of the events as possible.  We want to offer something for everyone!  Like Ferry Porsche said:  “You can’t tell what makes a Porsche special by driving it around the block!”
