*** Charity Committee Report ***

Dave Bender

Our first delivery to the Food Bank of North Alabama will take place after donations collected at our next Pit Stop Breakfast. We will be gathering on May 4th at the Metro Diner in Madison. We hope to see you there. Please come out and join other Heart O' Dixie members in great conversation, see a great display of Porsche's finest automobiles, and have a delicious breakfast. Also, be sure to remember your food donations. We will be collecting in the parking lot, trying to max out the front luggage compartment in a 911. Our members have been very generous. So far, we have collected approximately 90 lbs. of food. We will tally up the additional weight of donations made at breakfast and report the total to the group. Hopefully, our first donation will be a 'big one'. Click on the link below for the list of items the Food Bank needs.
Food Bank Donation Wish List

Don’t forget our planned charity auction. We currently have commitments from members to donate cross-stitch, stained glass, and woodcraft items. If you have hobby or professional skills to create items for this auction, we invite you to donate them. The committee is still working on the logistics on how to conduct such an auction and we will keep the membership informed on our progress via this web site and Dave Schroetter’s weekly emails.

**** Great Tour to Legends Steakhouse ****

On a dreary, drizzley Saturday twenty-six brave souls showed up at the Mapco on 72E for a Dave Schroetter led tour for lunch at Legends Steakhouse in Shelbyville, TN. Dave laid out a great set of roads to test our driving skills. There were more curves, hills, and valley's than straight stretches and the wet pavement made the tour all that much more fun.
See the "EVENTS" page for more on the tour plus photos provided by Scott Witt. April 29, 2019 Tour

*** Heart O' Dixie Newsletter ***

Scott Witt

Our inaugural edition of the quarterly Heart O’ Dixie newsletter is planned to be published on April Fool's Day. We already have some great content coming, with articles about luxury European driving tours, how to clean your car for a concours, a couple's first concours experience, the Porsche Sport Driving School experience at Barbers Racetrack in Birmingham, and we'll do short wrap-ups of some of the events in the past quarter, too.

One thing your editor is thinking of is a name for our newsletter. "The HOD Newsletter" is a little prosaic, no? I'd be very interested in any thoughts you might have about a name that works for our little big North Alabama Porsche club. All inputs will be considered: clever, poetic, creative, even something a little cute or humorous. Then I'll figure out how we pick the best one.

To those who've contributed articles for getting this initial effort off the ground, thanks a million. I was scared to death I'd have to write everything!. Scott Witt, ed.
